  • Responsibilities

    The Resident Engagement Program Specialist leads assigned programs of interest and meaning to our residents in order to enhance their lives and positively influence overall well-being.

     

    • Lead Resident Engagement programs and participates in program evaluation activities.
    • Assist in planning of community events and programs.
    • Complete Atria Resident Discovery surveys for new residents.
    • Greet new residents making a special effort to include and engage them in programs and introduce them to others in the community with similar interests and backgrounds.
    • Engage and motivate residents resulting in program participation.
    • Maintain records of all programs, resident participation, and acceptance of each program by residents as required by state law.
    • Assist in decorating the community according to community First Impression Standards.
    • Inform residents of programs and ensure daily Community Events are posted and updated with any changes in a timely manner.
    • Utilize resident Program Guide Library for program planning and execution.
    • Partner with all Resident Engagement staff to ensure adaptation, and program implementation across all service offerings.
    • May drive company vehicle from community to social and other various destinations.

    Memory Care Specific Duties:

    • Partner with Memory Care staff in the implementation of the daily program.
    • Capture individual resident Life Story information (life history and preferences) and utilize effective approach and redirection techniques. 

    May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three (3) to six (6) months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Training and/or experience working with individuals with cognitive impairment preferred.
    • Expertise in one of the following areas is preferred: exercise/fitness, recreation, creative arts, or music therapy.
    • Must have a working knowledge of the methods of recreational therapy or programming and their application to the leisure needs of residents with Alzheimer’s/Dementia.
    • Required certification(s) based on current state regulations.
    • Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
    • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
    • Ability to effectively utilize technology including use of computers, iPad/Tablet use, Word programming, internet access, and email.
    • Position requires driving responsibilities (may use Company provided vehicle and/or personal vehicle).
    • Must possess valid driver’s license.
    • Must satisfactorily meet and be in compliance with Atria motor vehicle policy standards.
    • Able to work varied schedules to include weekends, evenings and holidays.
